With degrees in Nursing, Family Sociology, and Adult Education, Donna has dedicated her career to helping healthcare professionals and organizations rethink how competency, learning, and leadership can drive meaningful transformation. She is widely known for her innovative, empowering approach to education and for inspiring healthcare professionals to pursue excellence with confidence and purpose.

Donna is the author of the best-selling book “The Ultimate Guide to Competency Assessment in Health Care”, which has reached a global audience and has been translated into Japanese for use throughout Japan. She is also a co-author of the national award-winning books “Relationship-Based Care: A Model for Transforming Practice” and “Advancing Relationship-Based Cultures”. Her work continues to shape competency assessment, leadership development, and professional practice strategies across healthcare organizations worldwide.

Throughout her career, Donna has served in both staff and leadership roles across a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. Her experiences have taken her around the world, including work in rural Africa, and she has worked on six of the seven continents. Donna is also the lead facilitator for “Leading an Empowered Organization,” a course that has been taught in more than 24 countries and has influenced leaders across the global healthcare community.

Donna is a member and past president of the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) and has received both the “Promoting Excellence in Consultation” Award and the prestigious Marlene Kramer Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her impact on the profession.
