Nurse staffing can feel like navigating constantly changing waters, especially for new nurse managers balancing patient needs, staff well-being, regulatory requirements, and organizational expectations. Charting the Course: Navigating Nurse Staffing with Confidence provides the foundational knowledge and practical strategies nurse leaders need to make informed staffing decisions in both calm and turbulent conditions.

Throughout this virtual course, participants will explore the professional, regulatory, and organizational factors that shape nurse staffing. They will gain practical insight into developing department staffing plans, recruiting and selecting team members, supporting successful orientation and onboarding, creating effective schedules, and responding to common staffing challenges such as census fluctuations, vacant positions, and unplanned absences.

The course also examines the nurse manager’s responsibility and accountability for staffing decisions, along with the importance of protecting personal well-being and maintaining a meaningful commitment to staff.

• 10.5 Contact hours will be awarded to individuals who complete all of the modules, attend at least 70% of the live sessions, and complete an evaluation.
